The Town of Cobourg respectfully acknowledge that we are located in the traditional and treaty territory of the Michi Saagiig (Mississauga) and Chippewa Nations, collectively known as the Williams Treaties First Nations, which include: Curve Lake, Hiawatha, Alderville, Scugog Island, Rama, Beausoleil, and Georgina Island First Nations.

Objective: To receive information on the role of the GRCA including its areas of responsibility; the effect of global heating on Cobourg; and global heating adaptation work Cobourg has underway. (Attachment: Presentation)

Objective

  1. To review Cobourg Budget schedule and discuss how the SCEAC can provide input to Cobourg’s 2022 draft Budget (to be made available to the Public on October 22, 2022); and
  2. To review the draft Resolution to Council re Cobourg’s 2022 budget and agree on whether or not to submit for inclusion in October 25, 2022 COW agenda (Attachment: draft Resolution to Council)

Objective: To discuss whether/how to increase SCEAC learning re climate emergency adaptation measures to help the SCEAC in carrying out its mandate.  This will include a brief review of adaptation in relation to food, trees, power, buildings, etc  Good source document to read prior to the SCEAC Meeting of Oct 6, 2021 is ‘Towards Resilience, Durham Community Climate Adaptation Plan 2016’ https://www.durham.ca/en/living-here/resources/Documents/EnvironmentalStability/DCCAP_Print.pdf
