The Town of Cobourg respectfully acknowledge that we are located in the traditional and treaty territory of the Michi Saagiig (Mississauga) and Chippewa Nations, collectively known as the Williams Treaties First Nations, which include: Curve Lake, Hiawatha, Alderville, Scugog Island, Rama, Beausoleil, and Georgina Island First Nations.


The Town of Cobourg respectfully acknowledge that the Williams Treaties First Nations have been stewards and caretakers of these lands and waters, and that today remain vigilant over their health and integrity for generations to come. We are all Treaty people.

Moved by Member Mutton WHEREAS, The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee believes that stronger protection regulations are needed for the West Headland as a Natural Environment.

Therefore, based on the review of the detailed report from the director of Community Services, the  Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee recommends that Council clarify and strengthen zoning for the West Headland and the addition of the West Headland as a nature park under Schedule A of the Parks Use By-Law.

Moved by Member Councillor Emily Chorley:

The Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee (PRAC) recommends that prior to the approval of the proposed Wood Boardwalk Replacement in the draft 2021 Capital Budget that a justification report be provided to Council and PRAC.

THAT Council receive the recommendation from the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (PRAC) for information purposes.

AND FURTHER THAT staff provide a justification report to Council and PRAC for the proposed Wood Boardwalk Replacement prior to approval in the 2021 Capital Budget.

The Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee (PRAC) recommends that Council authorizes the creation of a natural system stewardship plan prior to any redesign of the West Boardwalk;

AND FURTHER THAT PRAC be consulted in the proposed redevelopment of the West Boardwalk.

Approved 
Additional money was added to the boardwalk design for this project.
