The Town of Cobourg respectfully acknowledge that we are located in the traditional and treaty territory of the Michi Saagiig (Mississauga) and Chippewa Nations, collectively known as the Williams Treaties First Nations, which include: Curve Lake, Hiawatha, Alderville, Scugog Island, Rama, Beausoleil, and Georgina Island First Nations.

The Town of Cobourg respectfully acknowledge that the Williams Treaties First Nations have been stewards and caretakers of these lands and waters, and that today remain vigilant over their health and integrity for generations to come. We are all Treaty people.

Objective: Debrief on Council decisions regarding Sustainable Cobourg representative, and name change to Sustainability and Climate Emergency Advisory Committee (SCEAC) (Attached: Resolutions from the May 17, 2021 Council Meeting)

Objective: To provide an update re email to the CAO requesting an update to the development of the Green Development Standard and Integrated Community Sustainability Plan

Objective: to review results of the rating method proposed by Warren and decide whether to apply it to the SCEAC Work Plan. Also decide whether to recommend to Council that all Advisory Committees be asked to apply this rating method to their work plan (Attachment: Priority WP Objectives Emission Reduction and Cost - Member Inputs)

Objective: Whether the SCEAC should recommend that Council encourage Cobourg citizens to apply the carbon footprint calculator to their lifestyle. Considerations in making this decision would include: why the SCEAC was recommending this/the intended outcome; what carbon footprint calculator to recommend; who would prepare the communication to send to citizens; how it and the related communication would be made available to Cobourg citizens. (Attachment: links to carbon footprint calculators)

Objective: to review status of Cobourg Planning Department Special Projects of interest to the SCEAC: the Affordable and Rental Housing CIP; Comprehensive Zoning by-law Review; Tannery District Sustainable Neighbourhood Master Plan, and the ICSP/GDS standards. (Attachment:  Coordinator's Report for Planning and Development from the May 17, 2021, Regular Council Meeting. See end of the Report for update on Special Projects).
