J. Kramer outlined two updates for the Accessibility Advisory Committee:

  1. Accessibility Audits
  • The Accessibility Audits of different Town of Cobourg locations have been going well. The Marina, Harbour, Yacht Club, and Campground took place next week and the Beach and Park will be tomorrow, with two members of the Committee attending.
  • The aim is to have a report to the Accessibility Advisory Committee by next week with an outline and recommendations for the areas for them to provide their input and suggestions for a Council meeting before the budget deliberations.

2. Accessibility Media Inc. Filming

  • AMI, Accessibility Media Inc., will be featuring Cobourg in a "Small Town Accessibility" highlight. It will be taking place from October 18th to October 20th, 2021, barring that there are no additional delays due to COVID-19.
  • The members of the Committee are requested to participate in giving interviews and being a part of these sessions, when possible.

K. Fernando, Planner I, outlines the site plan for 675 Brook Road N:

  • This is a Site Plan Amendment.
  • The existing property is a narrow building and they want to create a rectangular addition to the buidling.
  • This will be warehouse, storage, and keeping the operation going.
  • Currently have a barrier-free parking spot on their lot.
  • They are not proposing any parking changes, just an amendment to the current look and space of the building itself.

There were no questions or comments from the members of the Accessibility Advisory Commitee.

K. Fernando, Planner I, outlines 560 Thompson Street:

Another industrial development on the corner of Thompson and Dodge.

Building A

  • The site plan is creating a new build and they are proposing of development.
  • They are proposing two barrier-free parking spaces, up to code in terms of the size.
  • The only suggestion that Planning is already making is the need the standing sign for the parking space for the one spot. They have added it in one, but not the other.
  • According to the zoning by-law, they meet the requirement of the parking spaces.

Building B

  • There is another new build with two more barrier-free spaces.
  • One on the East side and one near the Front doors.
  • They meet the zoning by-law requirements as well.

There were no questions or comments from the members of the Accessibility Advisory Commitee.

K. Fernando, Planner I, outlines 156 Willmott Street site plan:

  • Development is a phased development with the bottling and brewing building being built first.
  • Again, it is industrial.
  • They will have a small brew pub with access to their products and retail shop.
  • They have four parking spaces proposed at the main entrance.
  • For the second phase, they will have two parking spaces for their second building. Unknown what the second building will be used for but this will be coming up at their site plan application for this second phase.

T. Mills asks where Willmott Street development is being located. K. Fernando shows on Google Maps the location as next to the development for 560 Thompson Street.

10.

  • J. Kramer suggested that the award be moved to coincide with the AMI filming opportunity.
  • S. Caron requested that a poll go to members around which date (October 18th or October 19th) would work best for all Accessibility Advisory Commitee members and the owner of Chesler Shoes.
