Welcome to the May Cobourg Police Services Board Meeting.

This week is Police Week.

This year’s theme, “Building Bridges: Celebrating Police – Community Partnerships,” highlights and celebrates the important role police officers and police personnel play in helping Ontaria citizens build and maintain healthy and safe communities through partnership and collaboration.

Beyond the great events lined up here in Cobourg, as a Board, we take a moment to celebrate our police officers and all our members for the work they do every day to keep our beautiful community safe. We will always be grateful for your commitment to the community’s safety and wellness.

Finally, yesterday, on the International Peace Officers Memorial Day, we paid tribute to a true hero in life - Constable Chris Garrett badge #221. Constable Garrett was tragically killed in the line of duty on May 15, 2004, while protecting the citizens of Cobourg. He served 13 years with the Cobourg Police Service and his sacrifice will never be forgotten.
